Honda’s Best Ever Ranking in 2011 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study

Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, producing the Civic Sedan, was one of only three plants around the world to earn the Platinum Plant Quality Award. World Debut of Honda’s Fit EV Concept Electric Vehicle and Plug-in Hybrid Platform

Price Honda, one of the leading car dealer in Dover, Delaware proudly announces the world debut of Honda’s Fit EV Concept and details of the plug-in hybrid platform. Both these vehicles are a part of Honda Electric Mobility Network which is Honda’s latest approach to minimize the carbon footprint of its vehicles. Both the vehicles are proposed to hit the showrooms in 2012.
The new Fit EV is specially engineered to meet the driving needs of daily commuters and is designed based on the company’s popular Fit hatchback. The concept car is powered by a lithium-ion battery and coaxial electric motor that has been derived from the FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle and promises to deliver a top speed of 90 mph (145 km/h).  The most interesting part is the Fit EV will be able to seamlessly switch between three driving modes, a system adapted from the 2011 Honda CR-Z sport hybrid. Drivers will be able to choose between Econ, Normal, and Sport that will definitely give an enjoyable driving experience. Acceleration of the vehicle is best in the Sport mode. Apart from the 3-mode E-Drive system, the vehicle will also feature different interactive coaching systems to help the driver maximize the battery range. For example, the vehicle will feature a special display system that will advise the driver to shut of the AC to conserve battery power.
The all new Fit EV has an easy and convenient charging option so that you don’t miss out the fun while driving. When using a conventional 120-volt outlet, battery recharging can be done in 12 hours while it will take less than six hours while charging in a 240-volt outlet. To begin charging, the driver has to swipe a card in front of the screen and then connect the charger to the vehicle. As an added bonus, the Fit EV will have a standard connectivity system that will assist the drive to stay in sync with the vehicle through a smartphone and personal computer while away from the vehicle. The interactive remote will help the driver to stay connected with the vehicle without internet connection or mobile phone signal. Further, the driver will also be able to initiate charging and activate the air conditioning through the remote control system. The remote control is strategically designed so you can carry it in your pocket wherever you go.
The new Plug-in hybrid that Honda has recently unveiled is the company’s next generation 2-motor hybrid system. The platform has been integrated into a mid-size sedan platform. The hybrid motor is carefully designed so that it can be compatible with the needs of a driver. The 2-motor system can work in three different modes including all-electric, gasoline-electric, and engine direct-drive mode. In all-electric mode, the vehicle uses a 6kWh lithium-ion battery and a powerful 120 kW electric motor. The all-electric mode achieves a range of approximately 10-15 miles in city driving and a top speed of 62 mph. Fully recharging the battery will take 3 to 4 hours using a 120-volt outlet and 1 to 1.5 hours using a 240-volt outlet.




The vehicle can also run in a gasoline-electric hybrid mode, the platform features a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter, i-VTEC® inline 4-cylinder, Atkinson cycle engine, paired with an electric Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT). An onboard generator adds to the battery powering the electric motor.


For more efficient high-speed driving, the vehicle can utilize the direct-drive mode, in which only the engine drives the front wheels.
